Today, 22 high school students from the Greater Boston Area completed their first steps into the Northeastern University Young Scholars Program. Over the next six weeks, these students will gain hands-on experiences in engineering and science laboratories across campus. They will also develop posters and presentations for their research, and learn additional skills such as portfolio development, establishing an online presence through LinkedIn, and creating a competitive college application.
Faculty members within engineering, computer science, biology, and pharmaceutical science make this possible by providing time and space for the students to immerse themselves in implementing research. Additional faculty will bring light to opportunities in engineering and science disciplines by hosting seminars and field trips.
With the help of Northeastern faculty, the Center for STEM Education provides students with the ability to participate in an authentic research experience prior to entering college. Our 2019 YSP participants will be engaged in research with the following faculty with the support of 20 undergraduate and graduate student mentors: 2019 YSP Projects
