Applications

In-Person Field Trip Requirements
  1. Due to space and volunteer availability, in-person field trips are scheduled for Fridays only
  2. Please make sure all attending teachers/chaperones have reviewed your role as a teacher/chaperone
  3. As per Northeastern Policy, attending teachers will be required to complete the 3rd Party Program Involving Minors Form, prior to attending the field trip.
  4. As we take pictures during the event, we ask that you have collected/completed student photo release forms ahead of time. If there are students who are not eligible for photography, please let us know who they are. In the past, teachers have labeled these students with stickers, put them in the same groups, etc.
  5. We provide each teacher with a set of feedback forms at the end of each field trip. There is both a teacher form and a student form. These forms should be completed and either mailed back or dropped off in our office within two weeks of the field trip.
  6. We will need a personal/work cellphone (of an attending staff member) to contact (NOT the school number)
  7. We will let you know student group sizes for each activity ahead of time – please prepare groups ahead of time
  8. Please be aware that Center for STEM Education (CfSE)/Northeastern University is not responsible for lost bags / valuables. If you do lose them, we will still try to find them / reach out to NUPD/lost and found.
  9. We unfortunately no longer provide Lunch, and ask that students bring their own lunches and/or schools provide lunch for their students. We will have time and space to eat lunch during the field trip, but students will not be allowed to purchase food from on-campus cafeterias or stores.
  10. The maximum field trip size limit is ~60 students. If you wish to bring more students, we may be able to make special arrangements.
  11. We only take one field trip per school per year.
  12. Transportation is unfortunately limited each semester – we only have funds for three buses each year. Priority will go to BPS schools that cannot otherwise make it to campus. If you are outside of Boston, you will need to arrange your own transportation. The NU campus is accessible by public transportation as well, through the orange, green, and purple lines.
  13. If a field trip is canceled due to weather conditions, we will (usually) be unlikely to accommodate you within that same calendar year, and will have to move you to the next year.
Virtual & Reverse Field Trip Requirements
    1. Reverse Field Trips are available any day of the week and any time of day, between 8:30am and 3:00pm
    2. Please make sure all attending teachers/chaperones have reviewed your role as a teacher/chaperone
    3. As per Northeastern Policy, attending teachers will be required to complete the 3rd Party Program Involving Minors Form, prior to attending the field trip.
    4. Exit tickets are collected (SurveyMonkey) at the end of each field trip (for students and teachers). Additionally, there is an extended feedback form we will follow-up with later in the year.
    5. The maximum field trip size limit is ~75 students. If you wish to bring more students, we may be able to make special arrangements.
    6. We only take one field trip per school per year.
    7. If a field trip is canceled due to weather conditions or other factors (internet/service disruptions), we will attempt to reschedule you to another date that academic year (that all parties are able to attend). If we cannot, we will take you the following year.
