Robotics Afterschool Program – Spring 2022

This spring, Khoury PhD Student David Klee and Professor Robert Platt, in partnership with the Center for STEM Education, will be running the Robotics Afterschool Program. This free program will introduce students to core concepts in robotics, including motion planning, automation, and computer vision. Students will explore each concept by writing and executing Python scripts on their own robotic arm, which they will be provided for free and allowed to keep. The program will culminate in a friendly competition that challenges students to design a program to pick up and move objects autonomously. As we are providing each student with the robotics kit, we are looking for committed students: students must attend each session (in-person and virtual) and participate fully in each week’s activities.

The program runs for 8 total sessions:
2 x Saturday [In-Person, @Northeastern], 10:00am-12:00pm: April 30th and June 11
6 x Tuesdays, 3:30pm-5:30pm [Virtual]: May 3, May 10, May 17, May 24, May 31, June 7
Please note that Saturdays will be IN-PERSON at Northeastern University. April 30th is an introduction to the program and participants, and you will receive your robotic arms to take home with you. June 11th is final day and students will be presenting what they worked on and learned. All Tuesdays will be virtual. Attendance is required on all days of the program.
