Apply for the UPLIFT Program

Eligibility:
• Students must be NEU engineering (COE) students
• Students do not need to be first-year students, but this must be your first time doing research at NEU (therefore: transfer students and students who spent their first year abroad ARE eligible)
• Only students who have attended (virtual, in-person, or asynch) UPLIFT seminars in the Fall are eligible to apply
• Must complete seminar attendance survey for each attended seminar
• Students at other campuses are eligible to apply, as we will have research placements at other campuses and virtually
• Students at Oakland must be or intend to be Electrical and/or Computer Engineering majors

Application Process:
• Attend at least 4 UPLIFT seminars (in-person, virtual, or asynch)
• Complete Seminar Attendance Survey at minimum 4 times
• Complete online application survey by deadline:  Applications are closed.
• One short-answer question: why do you feel undergraduate research would benefit you? [200 words] • Application close on the last day of Fall classes
• Once accepted, we will connect you with faculty in late December/early January
• UPLIFT research participants will be required to create a final research presentation

Application Timeline:
• Applications Open: November 23 (M)
• Applications Close: December 14 (M)
• Status Notification: December 29 (Tu)
• Faculty Introductions: January 5 (Tu)
• Research Begins: January 11 (M)
• Final Presentations: April (Date TBD)

Research Experience for Undergraduates [REUs]:
REUs are a chance for undergraduate college students to conduct research at colleges around the country in the summer. UPLIFT scholars are strongly encouraged to apply for REUs. Research and information regarding REUs can be found on our REU page here. Do note that applications for summer REUs usually close between January-March.
