The Center for STEM Education is always looking for work study students to help in the office and at field trips. Work study students will help organize events (STEM Field Trips, Building Bridges, Engineering Expo, Science Fair, etc.) we host and if available, help at these events. A variety of other assignments/tasks are possible, such as website updates, help with writing proposals, clean-up/reset activities from field trips, designing new activities, etc.

Lauren is currently pursuing a graduate degree in English (2024) through Northeastern's PlusOne Program. She completed her undergraduate degree here -- English with a minor in biology on the pre-Physician Assistant track -- in 2023. Last year, Lauren was involved with the Center for STEM Education as a volunteer for the Friday field trips. They are very involved in club sports on campus as the President of the Women's Water Polo Team and a member of Club Squash. In her free time, Lauren enjoys reading, playing the NYT's crossword, and hanging out with her roommates dog, Goose.

Conor Hampton : Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Conor Hampton

Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Conor is a third-year Civil Engineering major (2026) with a minor in Data Science. They first became involved in Center for STEM in December 2022 as a volunteer. Passionate for designing safer and people-centered streets and cities, Conor is a part of the Northeastern University chapter for the Institute of Transportation Engineers and participated in a Dialogue of Civilizations this past summer on sustainable transportation in The Netherlands. Additionally, they are involved in the NU Symphony orchestra and in the Resident Student Association. Outside of school, they enjoy cooking, playing music, and biking.

Franklin Ollivierre III : Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Franklin Ollivierre III

Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Franklin is a Civil Engineering major (2026) at Northeastern University. He became involved with the Center for STEM Education following his participation in the Young Scholars Program at Northeastern. During the program, Franklin worked with Dr. Michael Kane in the ABLE Lab, where he optimized multiple battery chemistries to meet the renewable energy demands of remote islands. He then became a Young Scholars Program coordinator in the summers of 2021 and 2022. Franklin was also an UPLIFT scholar and worked with Dr. Jim Chen to explore his unique models for measuring ocean erosion during his first semester. Franklin has always been passionate about the world of transportation, and is involved in Club Running, Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and Black Engineering Student Society (BESS) at Northeastern. Outside of the classroom, Franklin enjoys exploring the city, listening to music, and nature photography.

Claire Stipp : Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Claire Stipp

Student Staff (on Co-Op)

Claire is a Chemical Engineering major (2027) at Northeastern University. She first connected with the Center for STEM Education by participating in the 2021 Young Scholars Program, a six week summer research program for high school students. During the program, she worked in Dr. Rebecca Willits’ Materials for Tissue Engineering lab, focusing on the directed migration of Schwann cells for peripheral nerve regeneration. When she came to Northeastern in fall 2022, she participated in the Center for STEM’s UPLIFT program, during which she continued her work in Dr. Willits’ lab. Outside of school, Claire enjoys playing tennis, going on walks, trying new foods, and watching movies with friends.

Alejandro Baraona : Student Staff

Alejandro Baraona

Student Staff

Alejandro is an Electrical and Computer Engineering combined major (2027) at Northeastern University who became involved with the Center for STEM Education following Northeastern's Summer Bridge program. Prior to joining Northeastern, Alejandro gained valuable experience working part-time at a local medical device company as an Electronic Research Technician, where he focused on the validation of an oral cancer detection algorithm. Outside of school, Alejandro enjoys reading and writing, listening to rock and jazz music, and trying new things.
