On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Michael B. Silevitch and Claire J. Duggan Center for STEM Education celebrated National Engineers Week by hosting our annual Engineering for Everyone Expo in the Curry Student Center Indoor Quad! This free, family-friendly event brought together many student-led engineering clubs from across campus to showcase hands-on activities and demonstrations for local Boston children and families. Many Northeastern professors and staff even brought their own kids to join in the fun!

Building Ferris wheels!
Students of all ages explored the exciting world of engineering through interactive exhibits and activities, getting their STEM Passports stamped by the Northeastern student volunteers at each table. The Indoor Quad was buzzing with energy as

Aquarium touch tank!
young engineers-in-training moved from table to table, trying their hand at everything like electrical demonstrations with circuits, chemical reactions involved in making slime, an aquarium touch tank, and even making your own DIY catapults! Each club brought their unique expertise and passion to create engaging activities that showed just how diverse and creative engineering can be.
Our undergraduate student volunteers were incredible, patiently explaining complex engineering concepts in ways that made sense to elementary schoolers while still challenging high school students. It was amazing to see the excitement on kids’ faces when they successfully completed a challenge or learned something new about how the world works. Even parents got involved too, making it a true community learning experience.
Throughout the event, we held a raffle where lucky attendees won awesome prizes including a DIY butterfly house, a DIY radio kit, a solar panel house, and more – all designed to keep the engineering fun going at home! The raffle was a huge hit, and we loved seeing families leave with tools to continue exploring STEM together.

Exploring wind turbines!
The turnout was incredible! We had so many attendees from across the Boston area, and the energy in the room was contagious. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – your enthusiasm and curiosity made this event special.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s Engineering for Everyone Expo (Friday, Feb 19, 2027)! Mark your calendars and join us again as we continue to inspire young minds and show that engineering truly is for everyone. Whether you’re interested in building robots, designing bridges, protecting the environment, or exploring any other aspect of engineering, there’s a place for you here. See you next year!
