Field Trip – Tobin School

Today, the Center for STEM Education welcomed their second field trip to Northeastern’s campus. The seventh grade students from Maurice J. Tobin K-8 School in Boston, MA started off the day with an introduction to engineering and the design process, followed by a Shapes of Strength paper tower design project utilizing the engineering design process. After lunch, the students had an exciting chance to work in Northeastern University’s Civil Engineering Earthquake Laboratory using the earthquake simulator. Students designed earthquake resistant buildings and then had a chance to feel earthquakes for themselves.
