REU-PATHWAYS 2025 – Applications are Open

Are you a community college student in the Greater Boston area? Are you interested in doing hands-on research at Northeastern University this summer? If so – please read on!

The NSF REU-PATHWAYS summer program at Northeastern University is a 10-week research experience for community college students to conduct in-person research at various labs across our Boston campus. This year’s program runs from May 27 to July 31st and includes a hands-on short course in engineering topics and software tools, career skills workshops, research seminars, and field trips. Each REU participant will receive a stipend of $6000 over the course of the summer as well as supporting hardware. The program culminates with a final research presentation and poster session.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents (due to NSF funding policies), must currently be enrolled in engineering or an engineering pathway at a local community college, and must be able to commute daily to our Boston campus.

Process:
Applications are due by March 1, 2025 and include a completed application form, a copy of applicant’s resume, a copy of most recent transcript (can be unofficial), 1 letter of recommendation, and a 1-page statement of purpose.
