BPS Science Fair – Volunteer Portal
Northeastern University will host the annual Boston Public Schools (BPS) Science and Engineering Fair on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, February 29th, 2020 in Curry Student Center. This event will bring together over 300 Boston middle and high school students to engage in active learning and present a wide range of demonstrations and experiments – on topics including the environment, biology, health, chemistry, physics and mathematics – to an anticipated crowd of family members, friends, and Northeastern and its surrounding community members. Last year’s Fair was a resounding success with several winners moving on to other scientific competitions.
The Center for STEM Education is coordinating Northeastern’s role in this event and is in need of volunteers to assist with registration, logistics and escorting students to activities. We ask that you volunteer for a minimum three-hour block of time on Friday and/or Saturday. Please be aware – you must be a Northeastern student to volunteer for this event! Unfortunately, we do not accept volunteers from outside of our university (due to university policy of working with minors).
Registration volunteers are needed for Friday and Saturday. Registration volunteers will help the BPS students with pre-registration and registration processes. Escort Volunteers are needed to escort students to lunch and planned activities.
We thank you for considering volunteering for this worthwhile and fun event. If you have any questions please call 617.373.8380 or email Nicolas Fuchs at firstname.lastname@example.org.
To register to volunteer for this event, >>please sign up here!<<.
If you have completed your undergraduate degree already, please consider judging instead.
Required Forms: To volunteer for this event, you must complete the Self-Disclosure Form (for Programs Involving Minors) and 51A Mandated Reporter Training. These forms are valid for one year – if you have not already completed them as part of Center for STEM Education volunteering, you must complete them prior to attending and either send a scanned copy to Mary Howley (email@example.com) or drop it off at our office (009 Dana Hall, M-F 8am-5pm).
