Research Experience for Teachers (RET)

The Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) program at Northeastern University was a six-week summer research experience for middle and high school mathematics and science teachers and Community College STEM faculty. Participants worked in research laboratories affiliated with the Colleges of Sciences and Engineering. Supporting professional development was led by program alumni and partner faculty affiliated with the Center for STEM Education. Teachers then developed a lesson whose topic is based on the research they committed. Previous year’s lesson plans can be found here.

The program ran from Late June – Early August (concurrent with the Young Scholars Program).

There have been two NSF grants for this program:
2007-2011: #0742924: RET-PLUS (Partners Linking Urban Schools)
2002-2007: #0227577: RET-PLUS Research Experiences for Teachers – Program Linked to Urban Schools
In addition, RET ran the following years without NSF grants: 2012, 2015
