Sophie Philibert

Sophie Philibert is a mechanical engineering student (2021). She has always been interested in STEM and has been doing science experiments in her free time since she was a child. Since her sophomore year of high school, Sophie has worked as a private tutor for middle school students struggling in math, science, and English. She became involved in the Center for STEM as a first year student volunteering at field trips. She is now in charge of organizing materials for the field trip activities, helping lead activities, and collecting feedback from students and teachers on the field trip experience. In her first year at Northeastern, she was a Gordon CenSSIS Scholar and conducted computer science research under Professor David Kaeli. Over her spring break, she volunteered installing solar panels for low-income families in California through GRID Alternatives. In her free time, Sophie enjoys playing the violin, cooking, and hiking.
