On November 17, 65 seventh grade students from the New Mission High School came to Northeastern University for a field trip on engineering. The students participated in the egg drop experiment in the morning. The students have a wide range of materials to ‘buy’ with their allotted budgets, in order to create a device that results in a successful egg drop. Their creativity was tested, along with their knowledge of physics and materials science.
The students then built paper rockets. Each student designed their own fins and put their rockets to the test! The rockets were test outside to determine the influence different fin shapes have on the flight path. In the afternoon, the students took part in College 101 and had the opportunity to ask our volunteers any questions about college (and high school) life!
