Field Trip – Brooke Charter School

Today, 60 fifth grade students from the Brooke Charter School in Boston came to learn about telecommunications. The Center for STEM Education assisted Dr. Kaushik Chowdhury on this student outreach field trip.

Kaushik Chowdhury is the director for the Next Generation Networks and Systems (GENESYS) Lab at Northeastern, which is a research center in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Northeastern University. The field trip was divided into three rotating sessions.
Session 1: Visiting Dr. Chowdhury’s lab, seeing his research and equipment, and talking to his PhD students.
Session 2: A campus-wide Android-based Wifi EggHunt, looking for WiFi access point connections, lead by graduate students from Dr. Chowdhury’s lab and assisted by Center for STEM Education volunteers.
